Pal's Place rescued this stunning girl from an overburdened animal control facility in Kentucky a couple of years ago. She was quickly adopted; however, she has recently come back to Pal's Place for placement through no fault of her own. Her adopter suffered some catastrophic life changes, and they no longer had the time to care for Kiani properly. Lovely Kiani is estimated to be around 3.5 years of age and weighs 80 pounds. Kiki is a typical young German Shepherd. She is highly energetic, intelligent, and busy! She is profoundly sweet, eager to please, and loyal. We cannot say for sure since her past is unknown, but her appearance and coloring suggest she is a working-line German Shepherd. She has much more energy, focus, and drive than the average GSD. Because of this, we feel she will do best in an experienced German Shepherd home. Kiani embodies all of the best traits of the breed and is a Shepherd lover and appreciator's dream dog! She is no couch potato and will not be happy with long runs/walks or playing ball a few times a week. She will need a job to do and several hours of vigorous exercise a day, along with plenty of mental stimulation to channel her energy into something productive. She is OBSESSED with playing fetch and loves to play in the water. Her previous adopter was a dog trainer at a large boarding/training facility, and Kiani was their demo dog. She is very well-trained and knows all her basics and then some! We feel she'd be a fantastic companion for guardians looking to participate or train in canine sports for fun or competition. She is more on the submissive side with humans, so she might not be the best match for Shepherd enthusiasts looking to train in Schutzhund. However, we feel she would excel in other sports, such as agility, dock diving, herding, search and rescue, tracking, flyball, etc. Kiani is being fostered with several other dogs and gets along well with her foster housemates. She is housebroken, crate-trained, and well-behaved in the home. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and successfully treated for a heartworm infection prior to her previous adoption. Don't hesitate to get in touch with us today if you can provide Kiani with all she needs to thrive! With the proper guardians and environment, she will be a once-in-lifetime dog! She is ready for her happily ever after. Kiani is vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed. Her adoption fee to the rescue is $375. Kiki is in a foster home and can be seen by appointment only after an application has been received and approved. For more info or an application, please email palsplace1hotmail or visit palsplacerescue. Unfortunately, we cannot place holds on our dogs for any reason. Please do not submit an adoption application unless you are ready to meet and welcome a dog into your home within three days of applying. Adoption applications and correspondence from the rescue may end up in your spam or junk folder. If you are waiting for our reply, please check those folders regularly, and if it has been 48 hours without a reply, please follow up with an email to ensure your application was received. • Kiani's adoption fee is $375. This fee helps to cover any necessary medical care to prepare her for adoption. Pal's Place relies solely on adoption fees and donations to care for the animals in our rescue. Your donation also helps save other dogs like Kiani from euthanasia. • Please email Palsplace1hotmail for an adoption application and put the dog's name in the subject line. Please check your spam/junk folder; sometimes, the applications end up there! We are a volunteer-run organization and do our best to respond to all inquiries within 24-48 hours. • All of our dogs are in foster homes and can be seen BY APPOINTMENT ONLY after an approved application has been received. To receive more info, please email palsplace1hotmail. Email is the preferred method of contact and is the quickest way to receive a response. Unfortunately, we cannot hold our adoptable dogs for any reason. Please do not apply until you are ready to adopt.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
