r falls right under her spell. Sasha is the epitome of man’s best friend and it always by your side, even if it means following you in the bathroom. She thrives just hanging out with her favorite people and is mellow mannered gal that enjoys peaceful morning strolls and lots of couch cuddles. Sasha absolutely loves people and is quick to become you best friend. She would prefer to be the only fur kid in her new home, but with a big beautiful gal like her in your life, why would you need anyone else? Sasha has done well when crated, and is already house-trained. She is past all the puppy nonsense and is fine amusing herself with her toys or laying at your feet while you get work done. She would be the perfect companion for someone who works from home and would make sure you always remember to take some cuddle breaks. As much as we love Sasha we know her perfect family is out there and we can’t wait until we find them! If you think that’s you, please fill out an online application at form.jotform/52017002013129/) I saw a little bit of cat chasing that made me think she's be best in a home without cats. We have not seen her around young kids so at this point are looking at homes with kids over 12 years old. Please consider adding this girl to your home! If this posting is up, this dog is still available! Thank you so much for your interest in one of our adoptable dogs. If you have questions, please e-mail (dogsyolospca). Our volunteer adoption committee will do its best to answer your inquiry within 24 to 48 hours. If you are interested in adopting please read the following to expedite your application. 1. Return to our website at .yolospca 2. Fill out an adoption application at bit.ly/1PIWjIA 3. If you are interested in meeting multiple animals please put all their names on one application. 4. The adoption committee will email you to confirm receipt of your application as long as you have an email address listed on your application. 5. If the dog is a good match for your family, a volunteer will call you to set up a meeting. The Yolo County SPCA is a volunteer run organization and are usually only able to call back if the dog would be a good match for your family based on the information received from the volunteer foster families. All of our canines are altered (spayed & neutered), puppies are started on their shots (DAPP), adults are up to date (rabies and DAPP) and have been heart worm tested (negative) and all dogs are microchipped. The adoption fee is $150 (which covers all of these costs) for all dogs and puppies. We also have special discounted adoption fees for Chihuahua mixes, at $100 for Chihuahua mix puppies and $50 for Chihuahua mix adults. THERE IS NO SHELTER FOR YOU TO VISIT BECAUSE WE ARE A FOSTER BASED ORGANIZATION. IF YOU ARE READING THIS THEN WE ARE STILL ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS, WE REMOVE OUR ANIMALS FROM OUR SITE WHEN THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit animal rescue organization. All of our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. For more general questions please visit .yolospca or contact us through email at (dogsyolospca).

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
