She is a svelte 65 pounds, with clean and healthy teeth, and has a medium length coat with traditional black and tan saddle color patterns. Daphne is physically capable or great speeds, blazingly quick turns and can stop on a dime. She’s a ton of fun to play with. Daphne loves to play fetch and actually drops the ball when she returns with it. She often rolls on her back... seemingly for no reason at times, and at other times it’s to entice you to rub her belly or shake her paws. If you want to see just how smart Daphne is, try introducing new toys or new interactions to her. You can actually watch her facial expressions as she figures out what to do next. Although we don’t suggest small dogs or cats as friends for her at this time, she does well with full sized dogs. Daphne walked well on a leash even before she was taught our expectations of her. When out and about town, she really shines as an exceptional best friend! When walking, Daphne doesn't react to other dogs, doesn't chase bikes, never pulls, prefers to stay on your left side, and is keenly aware of your presence & very mindful of your intentions. It’s hard to relay just how much we appreciate that Daphne doesn’t bark when a doorbell or a phone rings and remains calmly seated when we enter or leave the house. Daphne is extremely easy to train with positive reinforcement because she appreciates your attention and affection without being clingy. Although she is comfortable being by herself, she appears to be happiest in the same room as her family. She tolerates a bath, but prefers a shower and is subdued during brushing. With regular walks, we found Daphne to be calm, cool, relaxed and delightfully engaging.Daphne is timid around new people and has only been exposed to older children, but will relax around people given time and structure. She is very, very scared of sudden noises and will bolt if a car alarm goes off. She's also still scared of traffic, but has gotten a little better. She is going to need someone who knows how to work with fearful dogs.The minimum adoption donation for adults is $300 and the adoption donation for puppies is $400 - $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
