We raise funds to fully vet the animals and to provide them with a stable home until they are adopted. All of the dogs in our Rescue are in Foster homes while they are looking for their forever family. The only time we put a dog in boarding is for a Foster to go on vacation if another Foster is not able to care for them. We appreciate your taking the time to fill out the application to adopt one of our Guardians of the Green Mile pets. The questions that we ask are to only find the right fit for all of our dogs and the families that will be adopting them. Adoption fees are $250 for dogs that are 1 year and older. $300 for puppies under 1 year. Included in the adoption fee: All animals will be fully vetted, micro chipped and spayed or neutered. (Deposit of $50.00 required if they are not old enough to have the surgery) Renter’s will be required to submit a copy of their lease agreement to verify Landlord and also All Fosters and Adopters that have personal animals must be spayed / neutered. Age appropriate and healthy enough for surgery, we will verify that with the reference call to your Veterinarian. We are 100% volunteer operated and will process your application within a few days to a week depending on volunteer availability. We will be checking with your veterinarian and personal references, please let them know ahead of time. Applicants will be interviewed and require a home visit before being approved to adopt or foster a dog from GOTGM. He has mastered Sit, down, come when called and leash walking! You should check out Coach and his new manners! Coach was born May 10th 2014. He is a Lab Golden Retriever Mix. He is such a good boy, Potty trained. He Loves going for long walks on the beach or on the trail. He is easy going like that. He is a Couch buddy and even has been known to sleep in the bed and lay on the pillow next to you. Coach was adopted at 8 weeks old and returned because of the family having a baby, He was not fond of the toddler crawling on him and his family was to nervous to keep him around. Coach has been around plenty of kids since than but well behaved kids are a must. We believe that we teach baby how to treat dog, not dog tolerate baby behavior. Coach would love a family that also feels that way. Older kids would be great and he would love it. He is good with other dogs with proper introductions. And was a Play Group Rock Star in Boarding. Coach is really the real deal here folks. He is a total LOVE bug and loves to play with toys and fetch! He loves to swim and will play in a pool all day if you allow him to. Coach would love a family with older kids so he can play fetch and tug of war with them. He is good with other large dogs with proper introductions. We do not adopt to households with pets who have not been spayed and/or neutered unless there is a medical reason. All pets will be fully vetted, UTD on vaccines, micro chipped, treated for parasites, and heartworm tested before adoption. Puppies that are too young for spay/neuter surgery at time of adoption will have the requirement and date included in their adoption contract.
