h life with me? I may be a one-year-old neutered male, but I have the energy of a puppy and the heart of a clown. I'm a bit of a klutz, but that just adds to my charm, right? Do you like running? Do you like biking? I am the perfect companion, and I would be interested in trying new sports as well. I also love belly runs and a good game of fetch. I am a good car rider and fairly good on leash. Now, I'll be honest, sometimes I can get a little carried away during playtime and be a bit too playful with my mouth. But don't worry, my humans are helping me learn some impulse control. You see, they've introduced me to this amazing rope toy that I can chew on whenever I feel that urge to nibble. It's a win-win, really! Plus, I'm a smart boy and love puzzle toys, so I'm always up for a good mental challenge. I get along pretty well with other dogs, although my energy can sometimes be a bit overwhelming. So, a home with furry siblings who can keep up with my liveliness would be perfect for me. I have been around young children and did well, but I may accidentally topple a child over. My ideal adopter would be an active person who's ready to hit the ground running with me. I'm looking for someone who can provide structure and spend time working on my manners. Together, we'll make a great team, and with some patience and training, I know I can become the best-behaved dancing dog around! When it comes to being indoors, I'm generally a decent listener. I know how to behave, but sometimes I might bark when I think I'm missing out on something exciting. But don't worry, with a little time and a cozy crate, I settle down pretty easily. So, are you ready to adopt a high-energy, fun-loving pup like me? If you think we could be the perfect pair, let's dance our way towards a forever home together! Fill out an adoption application today, and let's boogie on over to meet each other. I can't wait to wiggle my way into your heart! Domino Dancer is from a local shelter. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
