one in less than 8 hours!! Meet Bravo! He was born on 7/22/18 and is already such a smart puppy for his young age! He knows how to sit, leave it, go to bed, and comes when called (most of the time)! He came into rescue as an owner surrender at around 4 months old and only 25 pounds. He is currently a little over 6 months old and a skinny 55 pounds! You can bet that this handsome boy will likely reach 100 pounds easily! Bravo's foster parents did a DNA test on him to satisfy their curiosity of his unique coloring, and surprisingly he is 75% Great Pyrenees mixed with White Swiss Shepherd! He is an absolute love bug and likes to be around his humans all the time. We would caution against him around small children, as his puppy exuberance can get the better of him at times. He definitely thrives off the guidance of his older fluffy foster brothers and sisters, so his forever home should have the same. He loves other dogs of all sizes although a little timid at first. He is okay with cats, and by okay, we mean he chases them for fun and the cats let him. Along with his other fabulous manners, Bravo is crate trained and rides very well in a car. He is working on perfecting his leash manners and is nearly finished with his house training. While pretty unusual for a Pyrenees, Bravo plays fetch! He can be super silly! One of his signature tricks is turning his food dish upside-down and playing hockey with it around the floor! Bravo says that he requires a super fluffy bed and lots of toys, especially ropes and rubber flavored bones (his words, not ours)! You’ll love petting those big, soft, amazing floppy ears! Then you can indulge his favorite activity – tummy rubs! PUPPIES WILL ONLY BE PLACED IN HOMES WITH YOUTHFUL, PLAYFUL, DOGS. OUR REQUIREMENTS FOR PUPPY ADOPTION: 1) These puppies are not livestock dogs. They must be family pets that are allowed inside the home. 2) Homes with youthful, playful dogs provide the pup with a mentor which facilitates a smooth integration into your household. 3) In addition to the youthful playful dog, someone must be home at least part of the day. If you are away from home between 8-10 hours a day, please do not apply for a puppy as this circumstance is unfavorable for you and the puppy. 4) We give preference to applicants with prior Great Pyrenees experience or knowledge. 5) You must have a plan in place to properly socialize your puppy. 6) The FASTEST way to be considered for a puppy is to submit an application. We are continuously working through applications, including those that were received in advance of yours. It is very likely that by the time your application has been approved, the puppy may no longer be available. 7) Please do not inquire about a puppy's availability; the puppy is still available if the listing is displayed. Emailing for status updates will only result in a delay of your application review, and put you to the back of the line. All of the individuals responsible for reviewing applications are volunteering what little bit of time s/he has in addition to their own dogs, families, careers, and responsibilities. Though we do our best to evaluate ALL applications swiftly, submissions for adult dogs do take priority - there are an abundant amount of people that only want to adopt a puppy. All of our dogs require secure and VISIBLE fencing. Adoption Fee: $375 * Note to NW Adopters: The adoption fee does not include the cost of transport. There are many things YOU can do to help us: 1. Adopt! If this Gentle Giant looks like the one for you, fill out an adoption application today! 2. Foster! This is a temporary commitment that gives all dogs in need the assured time to find the loving home they deserve. Your benevolent decision to foster unquestionably determines whether a loving dog gets to live or die. 3. Donate! Safeguarding these Gentle Giants result in expenses that are in upwards $8/day. If veterinary care is needed, the costs exponentiate to $1,000+ for a single dog. Every penny you donate makes an impact when it comes to vet bills! If you were to make a one-time donation of just $25, you would be adding 3 more valuable days to the life of every rescued dog and provide the chance to find the home they have been waiting for their entire life. As always, all donations are gratefully accepted. If you are interested in adopting this dog or need further information, please contact GPRS at infogprescuesociety or fill out our SHORT application form. Every dog adopted thru the GPRS program is up to date on all vaccinations, spayed/neutered and on heartworm preventative.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
