ed that I wasn’t a good fit for their lifestyle, so I’m back with Mostly Mutts looking for a family that loves the Husky mix breed! I got to spend some time in the prison/foster training program and learned a lot! Now I’m in a great foster home while I wait for my new family to come and adopt me! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I met dogs recently in the prison/foster training program and showed that I am a dominant female with other female dogs. So far, I’ve only done well with an older chill male dog. If you have a chill, male dog like this at home already, let’s meet. / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, but my former family reported that I liked the kids I met while I was with them, though I don’t remember their ages, so if you have kids, let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over. Also, kids should not walk me since I have been reactive to other dogs. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m described as a sweet, snuggly, friendly, and playful girl who enjoys all the nice volunteers that come to spend time with me. / My energy level is around that of a typical Husky (6-7), so please make plans to keep me active on a regular basis. I love to investigate the world around me. In the prison foster training program, I have been respectful and haven’t gotten into things that are not mine. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I’m a proud graduate of the Mostly Mutts University training program so I’ve learned the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’, ‘come’, ‘drop it’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands. I also use proper door etiquette and have good leash manners as well as accept nice strangers without jumping. / It took me a few days to adjust to the new prison/foster training program schedule – when I was left in my crate, I would pant and whine. However, I am doing fabulous now as I have adjusted to my new routine. / I’ve had good potty manners on the Mostly Mutts schedule and in the prison/foster training program. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I like playing fetch and being active with my family and I like all the volunteers that come to spend time with me. I also like playing with toys. Let’s discover lots more together! / I don’t really know of any dislikes yet but I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I arrived heartworm positive, however I’ve completed my treatment and am now getting back to my regular exercise routine. I’ll have my retest in late May 2024, so local adoption would be best. I’m a great dog looking for a great family to be active with and live a great life together! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
