ld and a Pointer and Lab mix. She loves biting and chasing after the water from the hose, although she hasn't quite gotten up the nerve to jump in the pool. Most women would pay mega bucks for her silky, shiny auburn-colored top coat and Oreo-cream undercoat. Juliana has had some basic training, such as sit and wait, and is working on other basic commands. She is very food-oriented and knows to sit for food or treats. She loves her foster puppies and is quite silly when she plays with them, often expressing herself with a welcome bark. She hasn't had the luxury of spending much time in a home yet, so she will need to learn some boundaries and house rules, but she's wicked smart and eager to please, so we're sure she'll catch on fast! Typical of the Pointer in her, Juliana is a higher energy dog and will likely need a good amount of exercise and mental stimulation each day. Pointers are typically loving and sweet, very smart and eager to learn, and are often boisterous and outgoing, and Juliana displays all of these traits. Like many sporting dogs, Pointers and Labs both usually enjoy time in large open outdoor spaces where they can run, chase critters, and explore while getting in their exercise. Luckily San Diego has a plethora of such spaces, so if you like to explore the outdoors from the beaches to the mountains, Juliana would love to join you! Additionally, Juliana is looking for a family that understands the time, patience, and energy needed to raise a young pup like her. She has begun her basic training, but will need additional training including house training, leash training, and socialization. We do not allow our dogs or puppies to sleep or live outside; they must be incorporated into your family and be made a priority in your life. In return, you will have the most loving and loyal family member you could ask for. If you think you are ready to add a rescue dog to your family by adopting a puppy, then fill out an adoption application on our website today! This information is as up to date and accurate as possible for the dog in its current environment. All dogs and puppies will need time and training to adjust to their new surroundings and to learn the rules of their new home. If you are interested in meeting one of our dogs, the first step is to complete the Adoption Form on our website at .labsandmore and take some time to review our adoption process. Your adoption includes the spay or neuter, current vaccinations, microchip, and other services provided while in our care. The safety and health of our puppies is priority one, so we only allow approved applicants to meet and handle puppies. Please understand everything we do is for the dogs and conducted by our kind and generous volunteers. We rely solely on donations, and we do not profit from a dog's adoption. Labs and More is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that operates on donations and time dedicated to this cause by volunteers. Your adoption will save the life of future dogs in need. Labs and More makes no guarantees regarding the behavior, breed, or age of the dogs in our care. Although we strive to provide necessary medical care to dogs in our care, we cannot predict future or current medical needs whether they were symptomatic or not at the time of adoption. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
