eceived will be kept on file for future adoption consideration. * Female Pharaoh Hound/Lab mix * Approximately 2 years old * Approximately 25 lbs. * House trained * Crate trained * Okay with other dogs, ok with cats * Dog respectful children 8 and older * Adoption fee: $300 All dogs with PUP are in private foster homes so we can provide our potential adopters the most current information available. Health: Juniper has been spayed and microchipped. She is current on her DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies. She has been wormed and flea treated, and tested negative for heartworm. History: Juniper comes from an overcrowded shelter in California. PUP was asked to help and we are so glad we did. All dogs PUP pulls from California come with health certificates, as required by Washington state. Notes from Juniper's Foster Home: Juniper is a very sweet girl who is eager for approval. She seems to be more comfortable outside than she is inside, but as time goes by she is spending more time with us inside the house. She has had no accidents in the house and she is crate trained. She does well with the other dogs and with our cats. She is a little hesitant when she first meets someone. She just feels the need to be careful until she is sure you really do want her to come to you. Once she knows you are OK, she wiggles all over and gives tiny little kisses. She is quiet, except to alert and is quiet in her crate. She is still learning about the leash, but it won’t take her long to learn. She is very smart and quick to pick up on what is expected of her. She is not much of a lap dog, she prefers to sit on the floor by you, or to be outsider. Juniper is a great size and she is far from fragile. She would be a great companion for long walks or hikes. Note: The above description reflects the behavior we have observed in the dog's foster home. Although PUP provides adopters up to the minute information on our dogs, we cannot guarantee they will behave in the same manner in a different environment with new owners. Adoption: If you think you have room in your home and heart for this dog and you reside within Washington State, please go to our Adoption Information page. There you will find more information and be able to fill out an adoption application. ATTEND OUR NEXT PUP EVENT!!! (click here) Can you help save more dogs by Fostering? Become our fan on Facebook! 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
