Arlo - Yellow male X, 2-3 years old, 86lbs Hey there nice person! My name is Arlo and I love to play, have fun, play, and cuddle, and oh yeah play, and I am seeking a forever family who loves the same! I am a friendly and happy-go-lucky young boy who lives life to the fullest. I am one of the lucky ones, I have always been loved, however recently some sad stuff happened to my family. You see, my owner got very sick and had to go to hospice care. They wanted to make sure I went to the very best home, so they reached out to LRRF for help. Though I will always love my prior owner, I am ready to start my next chapter. I am ready to find my forever family and share all this Labbie love with them forever! I am an energetic young boy who loves everyone - adults, older kids, and other big dogs – I love you all! I love to play ball, tug-a-rope, bone chewing, spray me with a water-hose, you know the classics! I have great house manners and I am housetrained and crate-trained. In fact, when I get tired at night, I just tuck myself in my crate! I am an enthusiastic walker and love to go on walks and hikes and do some serious sniffing. I also love a good car ride. I call shotgun! The only thing I love more than playing and going on adventures with you is cuddling. I love to cuddle everywhere, on the sofa, on the bed, wherever! Scratch me by my ears and I melt into a cozy snuggly pile of Labbie goo. I am a high-energy fella with a heart of gold who would love to be a part of an active family. I promise to always keep you smiling with my silly antics and keep you warm and snug with my cuddles! Arlo is a very happy and handsome young dog with a true zest for life! Arlo loves to be with his people and learn new tricks and have new experiences. He was not overly socialized in the beginning so takes a little bit of time for him to warm up – but he does quickly and loves people. His play style is a bit rowdy and energetic, so he would be best suited for an active family with older kids. He has not been exposed to smaller dogs in his foster home, but he gets along with the resident large dogs in his foster home. He is a cat-chaser though, so no felines for this fella! Arlo is a very smart boy and like all younger Labs, would benefit from continued training with his new family to ensure a lifetime of good behavior. Once he knows you, Arlo has the classic Labrador temperament – friendly, loving, goofy, and full of energy! Apply today at .labrescuefresno to meet this fun-loving adorable boy! If you are interested in adopting through Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno, you must first fill out an Adoption Application located at our website .LabRescueFresno All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccines including rabies; flea/tick topical drops, heartworm tested and microchipped. Thank you for opting to adopt!! 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
