f! My name is Kobe! Ya see I have a sad story to tell, but everyone keeps telling me that my story will have the happiest of endings! So to start, my bro and I didn’t have the greatest of beginnings when our former humans just kept us outside all the time, then when they decided that we were too much trouble we were dumped at local shelter. We were scared but we stuck together and we knew that someone would save us! And guess what!? They did, and just in the nick of time! Don’t worry, my bro got adopted and now everyone says it’s my turn! Since coming to foster care I have lived with other dogs, and boy do we know how to have a good time! We play, and wrestle and play and wrestle all the time! Foster mom says we are goofy, she also says that because I like to play so much I may be too much for some dogs, I guess all dogs don’t like to play like me! I am also learning all the rules of being a great citizen! I know sit, down, shake, wait, stay, and I walk nicely on a leash! A+ student right here! I also love being outside! Do you love being outside!? Mom says I would be the perfect adventure buddy! True to my form, I have lots of energy and love to run and play and explore all over the place! Mom says that my ideal forever home would have a fenced in yard so we can play all and throw the stick all day! Since I never had much socialization as a young puppy, sometimes it takes me a few minutes to warm up to new people, but once I do, you better watch out because it’s kisses and wiggles for everyone!!!! Because I can be a little nervous at first, mom said I shouldn’t go home with small kids. Foster mom says that my doggy friends give me lots of confidence, so I need to go home with another dog that can continue to show me the ropes! So if you are looking for your next adventure buddy then look no further you found me! Fill out an application and it will get to my mom, then we can look it over and make sure that we are a match made in heaven! Kobe is a cattle dog/lab mix, he weighs about 30 pounds and he is about 12 months old. Kobe neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm tested and negative, and current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. Questions? Please email Kobe’s foster mom at PinkStar283yahoo Kobe is being fostered in Bloomfield, NY Complete an Application: .acdra/adoption-application

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
