loving and patient family to call our own. We've lived our whole lives outside, so we've missed out on a lot of the comforts that a dog loves! Warm cushy beds and humans to dote on us and include us in on the family fun. Things have taken a good turn for us since we were taken in by a nice lady who is helping us learn to be great dogs. We have come quite a long way! We are crate trained and do well on a potty schedule in our foster home, and actually like going in our crates during the day to sleep sometimes. Our foster mom just leaves the crate doors open for us to come and go. We enjoy hanging out with the other dogs in our foster home, though we don’t really play with them – just hang out with them inside, as well as outdoors. The two of us have a close bond, and follow each other around pretty closely. Bo is the dominate one and will sometimes growl at me (Moe) if I come too close when getting affection. Though Bo sometimes hogs the attention, we are BOTH very affectionate and love to put our heads on your lap to get some loving. We mention this because we would love to be adopted together if possible since we are so bonded and have only had each other for our whole lives. We are sure to make a wonderful addition to the right home that is willing to be patient with us and give us lots of love. A fenced yard would be ideal for us since we do like to spend some time outdoors. We’ve not been around cats or children, so probably a home with older children or a home with a single person or retired couple would be ideal for us. We have walked on a leash only a little, but we love being with our human, so we should learn that pretty easily, too. This is something you can help us learn well. We’re current on vaccinations, neutered and our adoption fee is $150.00 for the pair of us. Please contact Vivian at holisticrescue@yahoo.com or phone 770-500-9447 for information about us as we do not come to Mostly Mutt adoptions. This is a courtesy posting. Mostly Mutts has no first-hand knowledge of Bo and Moe and explicitly disclaims any liability for any situation arising from this private adoption.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
