mal control along with my sibling. I’m in a wonderful foster home, where I’m taking in all the love and attention that comes my way. Now, it’s time to find a family that needs some wonderful puppy love. I am up to the task! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I came to Mostly Mutts with my sister and we get along fine. I also live with another dog in my foster home (though I’ve not yet learned their cues for when it is time to stop playing). So, if you have a nice doggie that would like a very playful puppy friend, let’s meet and see if we can be pals! / I haven’t met kitties yet, but I’m very young so I’d likely do well with them if they like puppies. / I haven’t met kids in my foster home, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that may fall on me or that I may bump over. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I am a fun and playful puppy! I’m also quite curious about my world and will investigate EVERYTHING - shoelaces, hair, fingers, ankles, pants – it’s all fair game. My foster is working with me on redirecting to the things I AM allowed to have. I often have boundless puppy energy and rarely have time for cuddles – I’m just so busy! I do want my people nearby though and will register my displeasure for a bit if they are out of sight. / My energy level is 6-8 in my foster home, so I’ll want a family that will be active with me. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I’m looking for a family that will teach me everything I need to know to grow up and become a wonderful adult dog – including starting to train me not to chew on you and the kids so we’ll all be happy - so get ready for some training with your new best friend. / In my foster home, I sleep through the night in a crate next to my sister’s crate without issues or accidents so far, so yay me! / My potty habits are a work-in-progress in my foster home. I’m still having some accidents, but this is improving as I start to learn the routine. I am also starting to give signals by going to the door when I need to go out. I will need you to reinforce my good habits and keep me on a consistent schedule so I can master my potty skills. • LIKES/DISLIKES: A typical happy, full-of-joy puppy, I love toys, especially rope toys and teething nylabones. Napping and playing fills my days in my foster home – then I often retreat to my crate for a recharge. / I don’t enjoy much alone time, so I’d love a family that is home a good bit. I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I've started my puppy shots, but you will have to finish these for me as I grow. I’m also micro-chipped and spayed. If you’re ready for the fun and excitement of having a puppy as well as the training commitment, then let’s meet! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
