control, and I’m so happy to be on my way to living the good life with a wonderful family. I’m ready for them to come meet me – perhaps that is YOU! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I haven’t met other dogs at Mostly Mutts yet, so let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet! Best no toddlers or small children that I may bump over, and because I’m in the mouthy puppy stage with an abundance of exuberant puppy energy! • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I am a fun-natured, friendly puppy with a love for adventure with my people. A sweet and very playful pup, I am looking for a family member to match my energy level. Everything is a reason for a good play session. I even made a ‘game’ out of drinking from the sprayer during my shelter bath – silly me! / My energy level is 6-8, so let’s have lots of adventures together! • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I am learning lots of great doggie commands with my trainer. I know the ‘sit’ and ‘drop it’ commands and am getting familiar with ‘leave it’. Check back soon to see what else I have learned. / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts. / Still a puppy, I've been having several accidents on the shelter schedule. Please continue to be consistent with me on a good schedule, so I can master my potty skills. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I love tennis balls and walk better on my leash with a toy in my mouth. Have tennis balls handy, and we can have great play sessions together! I’m a challenge to leash right now because I’m so excited to go out the with volunteers, but once I get used to that, I will be a great walking or hiking buddy! / I can’t think of any dislikes, though I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I am looking for a wonderful furever home with a great family! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
