animals, it is in your best interest to submit an application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved. We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application. As an all-volunteer, foster home based organization, A.R.F. Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals. The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we must give priority to pre-approved applicants. Lexi is a 1 year old female lab/shepherd mix who weighs in at 45 pounds. Lexi lovingly raised her babies in an ARF foster home and now she is ready to find a loving home of her own. She will be available for adoption on or after May 25th after being spayed. Lexi is affectionate, eager to please, and curious about household activities. She enjoys cuddling, snacks, fetching toys, and trying to sit in her peoples’ lap. She is very graceful. Lexi has not lived with any cats since coming to ARF, so not sure if she is good with cats. She does fine with all sized people. Lexi is ok with dogs when introduced properly. Lexi would do great with a fenced yard to run around and play. She is still playful like a puppy and enjoys all toys, running, and jumping. Lexi is looking forward to the next chapter of her life, hanging out and cuddling with her human! Is that you? Lexi is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, housebroken and spayed. Her new family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing. Lexi's adoption fee is $275. A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you're interested in adopting Lexi fill out an Online Application today! Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting. If you’re invited to meet an animal: Plan to arrive on time (or early), as we cannot hold animals. All household members must be present at the time of adoption, including dogs. We appreciate your cooperation!

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
