SSRR provides FREE transport to our approved adopters This is the year of the Dog, according to the Chinese calendar. That means it's my year to find my very own family. I'm cute, affectionate, love to have long conversations, and a great cuddler. I like long walks at the park and car rides to the park. I'm well-mannered, know lots of commands and am obedient, house trained and crate trained. There is no need to crate me but, if you must, I'd love to have my favorite treat - peanut butter stuffed Kong. My foster mom has worked very hard to make me a social butterfly and I am not as shy as I was when I came here. I'm a little shy when I first meet someone but I warm up quickly if they have a treat. I can be a couch tater and watch movies with you all weekend or go for a run out and about. I love to sleep with my favorite person but I'm not a bed hog. I'll just curl up near you in a corner. Pillow fights are my favorite bedtime game and I really like belly rubs, too. Am I the girl for you? Special thanks to Erica Abernathy of Memphis Mutts Pet Photography for these wonderful photos of Sammie. Please click on the image below to go to Erica's website. Step 1: Please complete the adoption application in full; incomplete applications WILL NOT BE PROCESSED Step 2: Our Lead Adoption Coordinator will contact you and confirm your application has been received (please use our Contact Us form if you have not gotten a response within 7 days). Step 3: After you have received confirmation from our Lead Adoption Coordinator, your application will then be forwarded to communicate with one of our Adoption Coordinators. The Adoption Coordinator is your point of contact during the adoption process, Step 4: Once the Adoption Coordinator has finished processing your application, a volunteer will be selected to contact you to schedule a home visit. Home visits allow us to see where the dog will live, discuss any questions you have and review our adoption contract. Step 5: Once the application process is completed, the adoption package goes to the board of directors for a 24 hour review. SSRR is very serious about the homes our dogs are placed in and want to ensure they never end up homeless again. If you have any questions, please email us at rottie.info.ssrr@gmail.com . Thank you for your interest in adopting a rescued Rottweiler! If you are interested in adopting this Rottweiler, please fill out an Adoption Application today.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
