hoarding house in Mexico at the end of February. I have had a few meet and greets but love my mom so much that it is scary to see new people so I need some time to get to know you but rest assured once I do I will love you! I am such a cuddler! I will go to the bathroom outside, my mom keeps a wrap on me to avoid accidents in the house but I do not go potty inside the wrap. Personal space?! What’s that!? I want to be on top of you or next to you at all times. I love to be pet. I am missing a lot of my fur but it is starting to grow back already! My mom thinks I will have some permanent bald spots but hey that's just part of my story kind of like humans have scars! That’s what my mom says! I don’t mind baths as I have had a lot of them to help with my skin! 3 weeks after being here I started to play with stuffed toys! My favorite is Lamb Chop. My mom ordered some online cause I love him so much! I even play fetch with him and have learned how to sit and wait until she throws it. I love treats and bones. I am very food motivated. We are working on laying down since I already learned to sit! I am kennel trained and would do well in a kennel at night but prefer to snuggle in bed! I sleep in the bed with my mom now! I get to stay out while my mom is gone because I am such a good boy. I have two resident dogs in the home with me and do great with them! One is the same size as me and the other is 60 pounds. I do better with slower introductions with new dogs but after a day or two I love new dogs! I love to run around with my foster brother and chase him or he chases me! We play with toys together and carry them back to my mom to throw! I could play fetch all day! I walk well on a leash. When I went to a temporary foster, I did amazing. I warmed up quickly and even showed her my Happy Feet dance when I get excited! I would do fine in a home with or without another dog! I live with a cat now too and she doesn’t bother me at all! Do you want a cuddle and have a couch potato? Then I’m just the lil guy for you! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, prepaid microchip, dewormed, dental, Rabies vaccine, DAPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX , flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $450.00

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
