Meet Ginger, a shy but extremely sweet 1 year-old Lab mix female with beautiful brown highlights throughout her coat but especially on her legs. Ginger found herself homeless at an overcrowded rural county dog shelter so made the trip to Canine Lifeline so she would be able to relax in a foster home while searching for a permanent new home. Although she’s quite shy initially when meeting new people, Ginger warms up quickly once she knows someone wants to be her friend. She loves to be around other dogs so would do best in a home with a canine pal or two to help boost her confidence and show her the ropes in her new home. A secure aboveground fenced yard would also be ideal for her given her shyness. Ginger has had excellent crate manners in her foster home so should be able to pick up the house rules quickly in her new home. Walking on a leash is still a work in progress for Ginger as it’s likely that was something she had never experienced before coming to the shelter. She tends to stay close to the ground and wind around her walker’s legs but with more practice and following the lead of another dog, she is sure to be walking like a pro in no time. Ginger weighs about 46 pounds and her adoption fee is $250. She’s spayed, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea preventative, and microchipped. All Canine Lifeline adoptions come with a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email infocaninelifeline if you’re interested in Ginger. We have no foster homes with young children so aren’t comfortable placing any of them in a home with children less than 7 years of age. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
