n Georgia called her Hope because they had *hope* this sweet girl was going to survive. Not only did she survive, she is thriving. She still backs away if you approach her, but will quickly greet you with a quick kiss, until she knows it’s safe to be touched. I recently discovered, in her space she is not shy with kids. She walks up sniffs and waits to be petted. Hope loves to run, to be chased and wrestle with her dog friends. Hope will do best in a house with a fenced yard that lets her run in a safe place. A doggy friend will help her build her confidence with the outside world. She still does not like leaving her space, but when she has a doggy friend she has a lot more confidence and is beginning to trust us more and understands we will keep her safe. When I first got her, she would hide if the other dogs in the house barked at someone or something, but now she uses her houndy howl to make everyone smile!!!!
Hope has provided her fosters so much joy. Watching her overcome the fears she developed prior to her rescue keeps us motivated and inspired. Each milestone we celebrate and cheer her on.
Hope's pictures make her look a lot bigger then she is. She is all legs and speed, and still a young dog with lots of energy. We crate her while we are gone, to give her a place to relax while we are gone and keep her safe. However, while we are home she wants to be outside or on a doggy bed with a bone. At night, she has been sleeping with me. I have done this so she builds her trust in humans, plus she prefers to be by her friends, who too are in my bed. She sleeps close and wants your hand on her at night, so I know it is helping. She is house broken and has no accident in the house. She quickly learned where the door to outside is and will sit there until she is let out. She is a busy bee and if not kept occupied she will find something to do. The fenced yard for her is important, even though she is afraid to go out in the world, if she sees another animal she will give chase and she is speedy fast.
Hope still has a little work to do with her confidence, but is moving in the right direction and I know the perfect family, with patience and love, will find the joy I get being her foster mom. Please do not overlook her thinking she may be more work than other dogs, you will be missing out the sheer joy of watching her grow.
Adoption Fee: $450.00
We are a Wisconsin state licensed dog rescue -WI# 402433
***We do not have a central adoption center at this time. All our dogs are in private foster homes within WI. At this time we only place our dogs in areas of WI. The breed of our dogs is our best guess with the help of our veterinarians.
Our Weight Classes are as follows:
0- 25lbs - Small
26- 45lbs - Medium
46-89 - Large
90+ X-large
If you are adopting an adult dog, which we consider 6 months of age or older, your adoption fee includes the following:
Spay/Neuter, Rabies and Distemper shots, dewormed, flea & tick preventative, heartworm tested and microchipped.
If you are adopting a dog younger than 6 months of age, the dog will be up to date on the shots as per the dogs age. The dog will be dewormed, flea/tick preventative and microchipped. We only spay/neuter our dogs by 6 months of age. If you decide to adopt a younger dog than 6 months of age, they will need to be spayed/neutered at one of our preferred clinics. This will be determined by your contract along with the month they should have their surgery. This is included in your adoption fee.
Once you are approved with our rescue, you can meet any one of our dogs within the fosters home. If you are interested in the dog you met, you can take the dog home under our mandatory foster to adopt program. You receive 5 days to see if the dog is the right fit for your home.
If it is, we will conduct the home visit and finalize adoption. If it is not, it is returned to the foster. We are happy to find you another dog that meets your needs in your home.
If a dog is listed as PENDING, a family has met the dog and planning on adopting the dog after the home visit has been conducted. We always suggest sending in an application for a dog because there are times where the dogs are given back to us under the foster to adopt program. There are many reasons dogs are returned but normally it just was not the right fit for all.
Please go to WWW.TAILWAGGERS911.COM under HOW TO ADOPT . We have an online application that is very easy to fill out.
