s GIRLIE. I arrived at Noah's Ark Bayou Sanctuary, TX (NABS) after I was impounded in a local high kill shelter and in the euthanasia list NABS saved my life and they are giving me a second chance of life to find my forever home. My foster mom says that I am approx.6 years old and I am very sweet. I get along with everyone, humans, large and small dogs and also cats. I walk good with a leash but I am very scare of trucks. I really need someone that needs to walk with me since I love to eat too and I am a bit overweight, so walk together with my new owner will help me a lot to be in shape. :) I need some basic training. My foster mom found out that I am missing my front teeth, she does not know how and I cant remember how I lose them :) I am a little shy when first I meet you but quickly I will feel confident and good. I am already crate trained so it will make easier to be housetrained. I love outdoors. I had been posted for adoption locally for a couple of years but no one really had been interested on make me part of their family. :( PLEASE WATCH MY VIDEO :) I am fostered in HOUSTON area, TX and my adoption local fee is $150 but I can be adopted out of state and my fee is $400 and it will include all my shots, micro-chipped, neuter/spay, health certificate and transport with rescue ground transport. I am in monthly flea and Heartworm preventive. If you are interested on me and you have any question please do not hesitate to email nabstx2004@aol.com or call or text 281-330-5238. You can also submit an online adoption application for me here: http://www.nabs-tx.com/online-adoption-application.html and we will contact you ASAP Please consider me or another rescued dog as an addition to your family I have been fully vaccinated, micro-chipped, spayed/neutered and on monthly heartworm and flea prevention. I am also crate-trained. I am ready to be adopted into my forever home! Please consider me or another rescued dog as an addition to your family. Submit an online adoption application for me! If you would like to meet me then please contact nabstx2004@aol.com or 281-330-5238 so you can make an appointment to see me at the Sanctuary. If you can't adopt me, you can still help me! I am still in need of a sponsor or co-sponsor, which is a person who makes a monthly donation to help NABS with the costs of vetting and feeding me, along with giving me any other care I may need. Would you please be that for me? Please see our Become A Pet Sponsor page. We need YOU to join our cause to find loving homes for homeless, abandoned animals! Submit our Online Volunteer Application. and help us SAVE LIVES! Thank you for your interest in a rescued pet and saving a life.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
