Jasmine is a young dog who needs a strong leader and an experienced blue heeler owner. She is a pure bred heeler and needs a job! Jasmine is high energy, true to her breed, and loves to catch sticks, tennis balls, or her favorite - a Frisbee. She knows how to fetch, and will bring whatever you throw for her back to you. Jasmine absolutely loves playing with toys. S he knows how to walk on a leash but really needs a harness. She really enjoys going for walks and see what is going on in the world. She has done great just walking along side her foster's side. Jasmine is such a smart girl. Her foster uses a whistle or clicker and rewards with a treat - Jasmine has responded very well to this positive training and learns her commands very quickly. She came to us with some basic obedience skills such as Sit, Crate, and Come and has been working on more like Leave It. She is fully crate trained and will go right into her crate when you say "Crate". She is still working on some typical puppy behaviors, but has come a long way working on those with her foster. For example, Jasmine used to have a bad habit of "nipping." This was not in any way out of aggression but rather excitement and her herding instinct. She has now overcome this while in the care of her foster mom! Jasmine is also a very affectionate girl. She likes to be petted and have her ears rubbed and tickled. She is a good dog! She and her foster dog sister play and play and play!! Her adopter will have to have time for her, patience, and a fenced yard. If given the chance, she can jump - but not six feet. In short she needs active owners - ideally someone who likes to hike, do agility and other activities. She will be a great dog in the right setting. Her foster home also has 4 cats which Jasmine has learned to tolerate. Who I am seeking: An experienced dog owner, preferably with this particular breed. Someone who is home more than they're not. How I act when I first meet new people: Friendly House trained? Still working on house training. The foster is utilizing Jasmine's crate training and working on getting her house trained in one room. She strongly believes that Jasmine will catch on to house training with a solid routine and regular mental and physical exercise. Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture, and not to discriminate against older dogs. You never know which dog will steal your heart when you meet them!
