ght-for-you/ Pookie Pots was confiscated with 3 other dogs when the owner was charged with cruelty, She became part of the Safe Humane Chicago program because she passed the temperament test. The others that were confiscated were not able to be apart of the program and we believe that they were beating poor Pookie Pots up. She is a very loving little girl that loves to go for walks, Car Rides and Snuggling while watching a movie with you. She is the kind of girl that wants to just make you smile and offers kisses all day long. She is good with other dogs but requires a very slow introduction to other animals. She is apartment sized or travel size. She loves kids and has no issues resource guarding. Do you want to offer this little girl a forever home, She deserves to have the life we promised her. Being apart of the Safe Humane Chicago program she also comes with a lifetime of Free ONE ON ONE TRAINING. Thank you for your interest in adopting a pet from Guardians of the Green Mile Inc. We are a group of individuals that have come together to save the lives of animals that are in danger of being euthanized. We raise funds to fully vet the animals and to provide them with a stable home until they are adopted. All of the dogs in our Rescue are in Foster homes while they are looking for their forever family. The only time we put a dog in boarding is for a Foster to go on vacation if another Foster is not able to care for them. We appreciate your taking the time to fill out the application to adopt one of our Guardians of the Green Mile pets. The questions that we ask are to only find the right fit for all of our dogs and the families that will be adopting them. Adoption fees are $250 for dogs that are 1 year and older. $300 for puppies under 1 year. Included in the adoption fee: All animals will be fully vetted, micro chipped and spayed or neutered. (Deposit of $50.00 required if they are not old enough to have the surgery) Renter’s will be required to submit a copy of their lease agreement to verify Landlord and also All Fosters and Adopters that have personal animals must be spayed / neutered. Age appropriate and healthy enough for surgery, we will verify that with the reference call to your Veterinarian. We are 100% volunteer operated and will process your application within a few days to a week depending on volunteer availability. We will be checking with your veterinarian and personal references, please let them know ahead of time. Applicants will be interviewed and require a home visit before being approved to adopt or foster a dog from GOTGM. We do not adopt to households with pets who have not been spayed and/or neutered unless there is a medical reason. All pets will be fully vetted, UTD on vaccines, micro chipped, treated for parasites, and heartworm tested before adoption. Puppies that are too young for spay/neuter surgery at time of adoption will have the requirement and date included in their adoption contract. Adoption donation is $200 for dogs over 1 year old and $300 for puppies/dogs under 1 year old.
