Hi there, I'm Roo, a sweet, shy and loving 7 year old, 15 pound Schnauzer!
My foster mom would tell you I'm a wonderful girl. I am still figuring out the good life and it has been an adjustment. I still am nervous and scared (especially of loud noises and lots of commotion), but I have lots of love to give my future family.
There have been so many new things I've gotten to experience since coming into rescue. I've discovered I LOVE bones! They're my favorite. I've also just started playing with toys. I'm not quite sure what to do with them yet, but I like to explore their magnificence. My curiosity is super cute! I also enjoy treats, but you'll need to put them on the floor for me to come and take myself.
I'm also trying to figure out how to play with dogs. I want to play with them and will bark to get them to play. I have been good with every dog I've met, however I have not been exposed to a big dog yet. I bet I will like them though! I need another canine pal in my future home to help me become the confident dog I know I can be. I'm also good with cats! The more, the merrier!
I am crate trained and nearly potty trained and do great on a schedule! I will need a fenced in yard in my forever home in order to go to the bathroom outside and get exercise, since I am scared of the leash right now.
I'm a super smart girl who has mastered a number of commands; kennel, wait, outside, inside, leave kitchen and no barking! I'm coming out of my shell everyday and just need some time, patience, and love to help me conquer my fears!

Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:
Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.

FOSTER CARE:
All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. NUTRITION:
Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
