exting business. SMH (shaking my hiney) LOL (licks of love) and my top choice WTF (where’s the food?). And then I would text TGIF, Thank God Its Food. Did I git those right? The ladies call me Benny with a “y”. I am a boy, 5 year old, 8 pound shaggy Terrier mix. My color combo is best described in a delish way as an orange creamsicle pop with vanilla as the base and orange as the drizzles. You can easily tote me around because I love to be held and enjoy automobile rides. I also enjoy going AWOL, which I am fairly sure means A Walk On Leash which I am very good at doing. I can run too, around the back yard. Some dogs scritch at the door to be let out, but at my Foster Home I don’t need a doorman or doorwoman, I have my very own pint sized door that flaps if I push it. When I am in my crate and get that call from nature and can’t open my latch, I bork bork bork to let Foster Momsie know to let me out. Yes, yes, I know, I am a good boy for being potty trained. There are lots of other dogs at my Foster Home and I consider them all to be good buds, like BFF (best furry friends). I spend my evening lap sitting or shooting the breeze with my buds. I haven’t been integrated with the cats yet, but when I see them I git excited and wag my tail and talk to them. I don’t think they understand canine, because they don’t talk a back. But if you understand canine and texting, then ARF (adopt really fast!!!!). So just email Adoptions@Godsdogsrescue.org and tell them you are ready to rumble with ME!! GOD'S DOGS Rescue, in San Antonio TX, does not have a shelter - ALL of our dogs are raised in foster homes in the San Antonio area. Each dog comes spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations that are appropriate for their age, microchipped, heartworm tested and on current on monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventative. ALL OF THIS IS INCLUDED IN THE ADOPTION FEE OF $300.00 FOR LOCAL ( Local is in the state of Texas)! Medical records will come with each dog at the time of adoption. IF THIS IS AN OUT OF STATE ADOPTION, TRANSPORT TO YOU is included in the adoption fee of $500.00 We transport all over the country!! All our dogs are socialized and we try to provide you a good understanding of the dog’s personality. Please visit our website for more information about what we do; http://www.yourtxrescueconnection.org/. You will also find helpful information about transport, our adoption application and pictures of our all our dogs/pups looking for homes!! 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
