our dogs, please see HERE Age: 2 months (as of 1/22/24) Weight: 5 - 6 lbs (as of 1/19/24) This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Meet Wilma Hallmark, the epitome of sweetness, friendliness, and playfulness. This terrier mix puppy has a special fondness for toys, making every moment a delightful game. Whether it's a squeaky toy or a plushie, Wilma is always ready for a fun-filled adventure. But don't be fooled by her playful nature, she's also a gentle soul who loves nothing more than to snuggle up and give warm puppy kisses. She's a bundle of joy that will surely bring a daily dose of happiness to any home. Being just a pup, she will have so much to learn! She'll need house training, crate training and will need to learn to walk on a leash. We strongly recommend that all our dogs attend obedience classes because you get to learn commands together, and it offers an opportunity for confidence building and socialization with other furry friends. Adopting Wilma means welcoming an endless supply of love, laughter, and memorable moments. Give her a chance to make your home her forever home. Medical Note: This dog tested positive for and/or had symptoms of parvovirus. Her last symptoms were on 2/8/2024. This dog has been examined and is now healthy and eager to find her/his forever home! Please see here for information about parvovirus Medical Note: A littermate of this dog is being treated/has been treated for demodectic mange, a non-contagious skin condition. As there is thought to potentially be a genetic component to predisposition to this condition, this dog has been preventatively treated though does not currently show any bald patches and/or thin fur in places. Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (e.g., transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc.). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months after adoption for adults or until 18 months of age for puppies. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange and talk with your Adoption Counselor about this condition. Please check with your vet if you have any questions or concerns about this medical history. An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see HERE for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website: .sosarl/aa/ **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
