She was adopted when she was healthy but in October 2018 when she hurt her back, the family opted to return her. They could not deal with her disability. It made all of us very sad but Shannon has adjusted back to life in her kennel and with her budies. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Shannon has Degenerative Disk Disease. Degenerative Disk Disease is when changes that take place in the disks of your spine cause pain. This is being treated with cold laser therapy with out veterinarian. She has some incontinence issues. She will go on her own but sometimes she leaks a bit also. This is all part of her condition. No What kind of home would be best for me? A loving home with an experienced owner that has the patience to work with her disability. What is my personality like? Shannon is a little hesitant at first, but all she wants is attention! She's attentive, and will let you know when a stranger arrives. She does like to bark, but settles down quickly. She'd do well as an only dog or with another laid back dog. She does not like to share attention and wants her own spotlight! Shannon loves to follow her humans around the room and just wait for an opportunity to be seen. She enjoys bouncing around the yard but is also happy in the house. Shannon will never be fully potty trained and should wear diapers in the house. She can hold it and will do so and go outside - but sometimes due to her IVDD, she can leak urine. How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly very quickly. Other tips and tidbits: Estimated Birthdate: 5/5/2013. Shannon is a very special girl with a wonderful home. Her forever home will not give up on her and will love her through all phases of her disability! House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.
