dle mix and I weigh about 11 lbs. Now, before you totally fall in love with me, here are a few things that my perfect family will need to know about me. * I'm a social butterfly! I need a doggie friend in my new home that likes to play and run zoomies * I'm still young so its ok if you need to run errands but I'd like it if you were home with me. * I LOVE KIDS.....well, I LOVE EVERYONE * I've never met a cat.....but my foster mom thinks I'd probably be ok....do they like to play? * I am potty trained and know how to use the dog door....in fact I can run right through it! * I currently sleep in a crate at night but I'd really love to sleep in your bed! * I give lots and lots of kisses.....you must love receiving them So, I am pretty much am the happiest dog you will ever meet! I love everyone and I have a lot of energy. I would love to go on adventures and long walks and meet all your friends and family so you can show them how great I am. I started out in a bad place....I was found as a stray when I was very little and eventually made my way to these great friends at ICARE. They helped me get to the vet (I even like going to the vet) they thought I had a cold but it turns out my nose got broke sometime when I was very young. Its still a bit crooked but it doesn't bother me none and the vet said I'm perfect the way I am. If you think you love me but don't have another dog....I live my my BFF foster, his name is Romeo! We make a great pair and promise lots of entertainment for you too. Sooooooo? What do you think? I'm pretty great.....right? all you have to do is fill out an adoption application and my ICARE friends will take it from there. I can't wait to meet you! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sc3yWgz1lk Check me out playing with Romeo! https://youtu.be/PoJxYS8OjqI If you are interested in adopting, please go to our website and complete the adoption application: http://www.icaredogrescue.org/ready-to-adopt/ Adoption fee includes : Spay/neuter * shots up to date * micro-chip * fecal and vet check

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
