ally in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to applicationscarolinapoodlerescue with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team Date into Rescue: 2/14/2023 Reason for being in rescue: owner release Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Loki is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Weight: 57 lbs Height: 24 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? Yes, Loki requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller. What kind of home would be best for me? Loki is looking for a kid-free, laid-back home. Loki thinks a home in a quiet neighborhood with walking trails nearby would be delightful to live in. Loki would happily spend hours sunbathing and roaming his backyard with a quiet retired couple. He is ideally looking for a home as an only dog simply because he loves to soak up all the attention. Loki does not enjoy being in a crate but does need to eat in a crate due to slight resource guarding of his food. This can absolutely be resolved with time and positive reinforcement training. His home will need to accept him despite this minor quirk, we encourage potential adopters to research on this before applying to adopt Loki. Loki is going to fall into place in any standard poodle lovers' home. What is my personality like? Loki is an utter lovebug. More often than not he is found hugging his caregivers. He adores being the center of attention. Loki is phenomenal on leash and would be an ideal strolling companion. Loki is great with dogs of his size; he frequently is caught playing with other standards. He would not be ideal for small dogs or cats frequently in the home but could walk past them on a leash in the neighborhood. Loki can be shy and uncertain with new strangers from time to time. Give him a few minutes to observe and then start offering treats to him. He warms up fast and once he does, there is no going back with his love. He gives unconditional love to his human and wants to have a forever bond with his very own family. How do I act when I first meet new people? Shy at first but quickly warms up to someone who knows and understands dogs well. Other tips and tidbits: Loki was estimated at 4.5 years old. We celebrate his birthday 7/19/2019. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
