ally in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to applicationscarolinapoodlerescue with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team Date into Rescue: 11/22/2023 Reason for being in rescue: owner release Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Mishka is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Weight: 49 lbs Height: 24 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? Yes, Mishka requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller. What kind of home would be best for me? Mishka is seeking a home with an active owner who will take her on runs and spend a lot of time with her. Mishka MUST BE THE ONLY DOG. Mishka is aggressive to small animals; with larger dogs she is fine if they meet her standards, for a short period (think recess). Eventually, Mishka will grow tired of dogs and be ready to be the one and only, center of the universe, determined queen she is. We recommend a home without young children as Mishka's temperament is focused on her people and she finds small animals to be a pain. An ideal owner would be someone looking for an athletic poodle to run/hike with regularly. Her future owners need experience working a dog as Mishka is ready to go. What is my personality like? Miskha arrived at the farm and was very reserved, uncertain why she was here. Before CPR, Mishka's owners had fawned over her like their own child. Mishka spent time going to training, hikes, and runs at her home in Idaho. Unfortunately, Mishka was in a military family who were called to a base that would not allow dogs. They made a loving decision to bring Mishka to us. However, Mishka warmed up to her caregivers in less than a week. It was amazing to see her thrive, Miskha knows commands like “ sit , lay down roll over and high five” in a row. She likes to work for her favorite people. Mishka is also crate trained but would rather spend her time in a big yard running because we’ve noticed that’s her favorite thing to do at the farm. Mishka has incredible focus and determination for whatever she is doing. She is very loyal and loving to her people. Her people are the focus of her energy and will be at your side no matter what. How do I act when I first meet new people? Mishka is open to meeting people. She may bark to alert there are new people in the room if she does not know the person. Once she sees a face, she seems to remember them and will look forward to their return. Other tips and tidbits: Mishka is almost 5 years old. We celebrate her birthday 4/5/2019. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
