ally in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to applicationscarolinapoodlerescue with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team Date into Rescue: 7/6/2023 Reason for being in rescue: breeder release/Amish farm dog being retired from breeding Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Sally is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Weight: 50 lbs Height: 23 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? Yes - 4' or higher. Sally has never lived without the security and comfort of a fenced in yard. We do not think she will do well in other non single family home settings. What kind of home would be best for me? Bouncy and happy, Sally is looking for a suburban home with a big yard, people to take care of her and to finally be able to go and do and learn about the big world. She's spent her time taking care of litter after litter and is now ready to give up the baby making life for a life of her own. She deserves it. Sally is a happy go lucky girl and is getting along well with all the other dogs in her current foster home. To someone retired/home and who has friends bring over dogs, we would let Sally go to an only dog home but you need to understand that she has never been without her own kind. She will need playdates. She'd be a great companion dog to another gregarious standard poodle. What is my personality like? Happy and peppy but also happy to settle down at your feet for a Netflix kind of chill night. We think Sally is 5 but she plays with the enthusiasm of a much younger dog. Sally is an even tempered, stable girl now. She was a bit timid at first but six months of solid care, lots of play and lots of love and she's shown her very stable personality. She's simply a Great Dog. Sally came to us in July and it became apparent quickly that she had done one last breeding before leaving her home farm. In August, she gave birth to a beautiful family of poodles. All of her babies found homes and Sally went on to get her necessary vet work including spay. She sailed through all of that and moved to the DC area but there, things were not as smooth. Sally's new owner, an experienced standard poodle owner, does not offer her dogs a crate at night and Sally, confused by that much freedom, had accidents in the home. We also have to wonder if it was the big city. Suddenly there was more noise in her life than ever before - much more than the gentle munching of horses eating hay and barnyard fowl scratching the ground. Sally was not in Kansas anymore! She did not know what to do. Once Sally returned to the poodle farm, she went back to sleeping in her 4' x 4' run with a canine roommate and she sleeps comfortably. First thing in the morning, she's right in line for the door leading to her yard space. We think Sally needs this routine and structure - sleeping crate at night in your bedroom along with her canine companion - then lots of time in and out during the day to make sure she fully learns and then keeps her house training. How do I act when I first meet new people? Welcoming without throwing herself at you. Other tips and tidbits: Sally is estimated at 5 years old. We celebrate her birthday 7/8/2018. When Sally had her pups, a donor sent a Wisdom panel to us. Her pups tested 1/2 mini poodle and 1/2 standard poodle. Sally is small in height but solid and sturdy. She made beautiful babies and now it's time for her to find the home of her own. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at .carolinapoodlerescue and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
