Pearl is a little gem! We think she is just about as cute as it gets! She loves other dogs and will snuggle up with any canine who will share a bed with her. She is doing very well on house breaking and is totally crate-trained. Pearl does have her quirks, however. She needs a lot of time and patience as she does not trust people and is quite fearful about being handled. Pearl absolutely HATES being picked up. When I need to pick her up, I do so very carefully but also make sure a have a good hold on her because she will struggle, panic and try to get away. Once you have picked her up she calms down and does enjoy cuddling. She needs a very understanding person/people. She definitely needs to go to a home with another small dog to help her feel secure. Pearl is a lovely, quiet peanut who, with time and a lot of hands off love, will blossom into a sweet little companion. Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.
