ndly and sweet boy whose special talents include being an expert cuddler, catching treats, and fitting onto laps. Our staff and volunteers love Miso to pieces, and we celebrated his Frostiversary (anniversary of becoming a Frosted Face) with a big birthday party. Our greatest wish is for Miso is to spend the rest of his birthdays in his forever home where he is loved and cherished. Miso has been staying busy while he waits for his forever family! He enjoys going on our weekly FFF hikes and earns rave reviews for having great leash manners, maintaining a nice steady pace, and being an all-around super hiking partner. Miso has been on outings with volunteers to local parks, restaurants, and wineries, as well as two Frosted Field Trips, spending several days in Julian and in Big Bear with volunteers. He is a loving and lovable sidekick everywhere he goes! What might Miso be like in your home if you adopted him? We have a pretty good idea, because he went on a two-week Frosted Fling and received a glowing review for being a well-behaved, devoted companion. Miso's Fling Mom shares: "Miso's Fling went great! He settled right in and was super calm for his bath and nail trim. He became my little shadow right away following my every step. He loves really long walks and is a little detective sniffing all the pee mail left by other dogs lol. Sure, Miso is hard of hearing, but he kept a eye on me during our walks checking in to make sure we stayed together. He also knows hand signs for sit and lay down. His leash manners are excellent and he brought smiles to anyone who walked by. At night he really liked cuddles and sleeps soundly through the night so you don't have to worry about losing sleep. We went on a paddle boarding adventure and he was a pro! He stepped right on the board and chilled like he had done it before. Miso really loved being on the water and looking at everything around us. I really enjoyed my time with Miso and hope he will find a family soon because he is SUCH a good boy!" Miso does not like when dogs get in his face (otherwise he hardly even notices they are there) so he is part of our Molly & Me Project and currently lives in a paid foster home where there are no other animals. ___________________ There are senior dogs left behind by their owners that are poorly socialized with other animals, but they are incredibly loyal companions to humans and likely have been for many years. M&MP dogs are difficult to place and often find themselves in long term isolated kennel boarding or facing euthanasia. The Molly & Me Project was implemented to recruit people that have no other animals who can carry out our mission of family to love dogs like Molly who need to be an only pet long term. REQUIREMENTS No other animals of any kind in the household Submit weekly photos Live an enriching life and include the Frosted Face Demonstrate ability to avoid scenarios of negligence that would put the Frosted Face or other animals at risk INCENTIVES $200.00/month for a term of 12 months *will be issued a 1099 We pay for veterinary expenses Donated food and supplies Read more: frostedfacesfoundation/mollymeproject Learn more about our programs at: .frostedfacesfoundation/family No adoption fees, and we provide free lifetime medical care on-site at the FFF Veterinary Hospital. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
