s. Their mom contacted us to make a personal plea for her boys, and on August 14th, we scooped up Alfredo and Ralph from the shelter to become Frosted Faces. Upon their arrival to FFF, it was clear that Alfredo and Ralph were well-loved, socialized, and scared being in a new place. In our play yard, the boys warmed up to accept treats and pets. In only days, they blossomed into social butterflies! Alfredo is mild-mannered and sweet; Ralph is spunky. Alfredo and Ralph have been living in a foster home for three months. Here’s an update from their Foster mom: “Alfredo and Ralph are so much fun. They are full of life and real puppy energy. They love to go out on walks and running in the park. Ralph is obsessed with his ball but will let Alfredo play with it too. They are both so affectionate and have great little personalities. They are so silly and playful and rarely bark in the house. They cause absolutely no damage at home when I am at work and just snuggle up with each other all day and wait for me to come home. They are always so excited to see me which makes my day so much brighter. They both love having cuddles and love to sleep in the bed with me. The moment lights go out they know it's bed time and time to sleep. They also sleep great in the living room at night and don't mind being separate from me - no separation anxiety or barking. Both boys are super snuggly and give so much affection. They also both listen very well and know many commands. They play beautifully together and it's so fun watching them interact with one another. They walk on a leash very well with minimal pulling - Ralph is particularly good with this! They both have some reactivity to other dogs and take time to get used to new people. I have been working with them on this for three months now and have seen a lot of improvement. I am very happy to pass on the techniques that I have had luck with to whoever wants to adopt these gorgeous boys! With consistent love and more training they will only get better and better ! In the short time with me they have shown high ability to learn new behaviors - even though they are older dogs! Anyone that gets to give these babies a home is so, so lucky. “ To become Alfredo and Ralph's forever family, please fill out our placement questionnaire at: .frostedfacesfoundation/apply Learn more about our programs at: .frostedfacesfoundation/family No adoption fees, and we provide free lifetime medical care onsite at FFF Veterinary Hospital. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
