known lovingly by her foster family as Miss Pickles)! This adorable girl, born around May 2022, is a vivacious and beautiful Great Pyrenees who is ready to fill your home with love, laughter, and boundless energy. Her gorgeous brown eyes and fluffy white coat are sure to have people stop and stare while she wags her tail in anticipation of getting to say hi to all new people. Bailee likes her routine of 1-2 long walks per day, plenty of play time with her foster brother, and looooooots of toy/stimulation time – her treat ball and oatmeal filled bones are her favorite! But if her older foster brother isn’t feeling the play time, she’ll be more than happy to do some zoomies around the house with you. And if you happen to have a home with children older than 7, that’s even better! She loves the attention and chaos of a home with older children. Even though she loves children and meeting new people, Bailee’s favorite time of day is going for walks. She smiles from ear to ear and her tail wags with a mind of its own when she sees her people get their walking shoes on. While she is still working on mastering polite greetings when seeing other dogs outside, she would thrive with another canine companion around her age or younger in her furever home. Even though she is nice to the small dogs in the neighborhood, a friend to romp with will make her the happiest. She would also do best with an experienced dog owner to help her develop her lady-like manners. When her people are at work during the day, she has done well being left loose in the house. Bailee is also the ultimate lover of affection. She often leans in for hugs, cuddles and a good belly rub whenever the opportunity arises. She won’t let you forget the morning routine of jumping into her people’s beds when invited for some snuggles to start the day. Bailee’s ideal home will provide her with plenty of opportunities for exercise and enrichment. A home without cats or children younger than 5 would suit her best. Bailee is a smart cookie and will continue to benefit from consistent patience and guidance. If you’re seeking a spirited companion who will keep you on your toes, make you laugh, and give you the best belly rub invitations, then look no further than Bailee! 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
