ect home for Darcy and Molly, two sweet, senior girls with hearts as big as their combined fluff. These lifelong best friends are inseparable, and we’re looking for a family who’s ready to open their heart to both. About Darcy & Molly Darcy is a gentle Great Pyrenees, and Molly is a lively Border Collie mix. At 10 years old, they may be considered seniors, but Molly still thinks she’s a pup — zooming around the yard and tossing toys with joy. Darcy, true to her breed, is calm, nurturing, and incredibly loving. Together, they balance each other out perfectly. They’ve lived together their entire lives and rely on one another for comfort and companionship. We will only adopt them as a pair. Their Foster Life They currently live with both a small and a large dog and get along beautifully. Molly especially enjoys playtime with the smaller dog and is full of joyful energy. Both girls LOVE the snow — it’s like watching puppies romp for the first time! They’ve shown mild interest but no aggression toward cats and co-exist peacefully with chickens. Their Personalities Molly is smart, active, and loves mental and physical enrichment. Daily walks, puzzle toys, or games of fetch are her jam. She has all the classic Border Collie intelligence and drive — she needs someone who appreciates and engages that! Darcy is the soul of serenity. She’s affectionate, steady, and thrives on gentle companionship. She’s your classic couch-loving, people-snuggling senior girl. Darcy’s Special Needs Darcy does have age-related arthritis and degenerative disc disease. Her foster family has worked closely with our vet to get her comfortable on a medication routine that includes Galliprant and Gabapentin, along with monthly Librela injections. She’s doing much better now but may have occasional flare-ups. She uses a sling during tough days and needs a home without stairs or with very minimal steps. Despite her mobility issues, she enjoys short walks and being outside — especially when there’s snow on the ground! We believe in giving our senior dogs the best quality of life, and her foster mom has done an incredible job keeping her comfortable, happy, and loved. Grooming & Care Both girls have been professionally groomed and do best with regular daily brushing — something they both enjoy. It’s also a great way to bond with them! We know adopting two senior dogs isn’t a small decision — but we also know it’s one of the most meaningful. Darcy and Molly have so much love left to give, and they deserve a soft landing together with someone who sees their beauty, age and all. Could that be you? If you’re ready to open your heart and home to this incredible duo, please reach out to us. Darcy and Molly have so much love to give and are eager to start the next chapter of their lives together—with you. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
