ghly motivated pup to be your loyal sidekick, Lottie might just be your perfect match! This 11-month-old, 40-pound American Pit Bull Terrier is an absolute toy fanatic—she could play fetch all day long if you let her! She’s also incredibly food- and toy-motivated, making her a fantastic candidate for further training and enrichment activities. Lottie is as sweet as she is playful. When she’s finally ready to rest after a full day of fun, she has the most adorable habit of laying upside down on the couch next to you.. She’s already mastered basic commands like Sit, Down, Stay, and Crate, and she’s doing well with her housetraining when kept on a consistent schedule. She’s also crate-trained and enjoys working for treats while learning new tricks! Lottie had a tough start to life, arriving in rescue as a puppy with two broken front legs. Because of this, she has some quirks and special needs we would discuss with any interested families. You’d never know it now—she’s made a full recovery and runs like the wind! She absolutely loves to play with other dog (once she knows them), though her rough-and-tumble play style is not for everyone. While Lottie is leary of new people and dogs at first, she thrives in a calm, environment with a patient owner who will continue to build her confidence. Her ideal home would be in a rural setting with plenty of space to run, explore, and burn off her energy. She would love a home where she can be the center of attention as the only pet and have lots of daily interaction with her person. If you’re an active, and experienced dog owner looking for a devoted companion who will bring endless joy, laughter, and playfulness into your life, Lottie is waiting to meet you! Apply today and make this lovable, toy-obsessed sweetheart a part of your family! Meet this dog at Petco on Saturday, Aug 2nd from 1-4 pm CST at Petco, 377 W. Jackson St #11 Cookeville, TN 38501. Interested in adopting? Take the first step and complete an adoption application on our website: aarf-tn/adopt/adoption-apps/ If you have questions that are not covered in the profile, visit the Pet Inquiry Form: aarf-tn/contact/pet-inquiry-form/. THIS PET IS FOSTERED IN TENNESSEE! We do list and adopt our pets nationwide. Typical transport cost to the Northeast is $180. Due to interstate adoption regulations, we are not able to adopt to RI and MA state residents. A.A.R.F. (All About Rescue and Fixin' Inc.) aarf-tn/ is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) no kill animal rescue organization located in the Upper Cumberland area of Tennessee. A.A.R.F. is comprised of unpaid volunteers and survives only on public donations. Thank you for thinking adoption first! Prior to adoption, all canines and felines are spayed or neutered, have received their age appropriate vaccinations, have been de-wormed for common parasites, and have received treatment for prevention of fleas and ticks. All canines over the age of 6 months have been tested for heartworm. All canines are put on heartworm prevention as soon as possible - this means dogs as soon as they are tested negative. Puppies are put on prevention immediately. All felines, regardless of age, have been tested for Feline Leukemia/FIV. Each animal receives a health check by a licensed veterinarian prior to adoption. Anything else found will be treated by our organization prior to adoption.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
