A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families.

Reason for being in rescue: Surrendered by owners to a NC shelter

Special Needs? Chase is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Chase is a poodle mix—possibly with some schnauzer in the mix, judging by his charming nub tail and scruffy coat. While his breed and past remain a bit of a mystery since he was found as a stray, what’s certain is that this sweet boy is full of love and personality.
Weight: 31 lbs - Chase is underweight and needs to gain 10 lbs

Fence needed? Yes, Chase requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller.
What kind of home would be best for me? Weighing in at about 40 pounds, Chase is the perfect medium-sized companion. He’s a Velcro dog through and through, happiest when he’s close to his people. He loves to be touching or near someone at all times and would thrive in a home where someone is around often. Whether he’s curled up at your feet, trailing behind you from room to room, or nudging in for affection, Chase just wants to be part of everything you do.
While Chase can be vocal and likes to express himself, this makes him less suited for apartment life. A home with a fenced yard—at least four feet high—would be perfect for him to safely run, explore, and burn off energy. He isn’t a fan of grooming yet and tends to wiggle quite a bit, but with patience and continued positive experiences, he’ll learn that being pampered isn’t so bad after all.
Chase would do well in a home with children over the age of 10 who can respect his space and energy. He’s still young, curious, and learning about the world, but with the right family, he’s ready to grow into the amazing companion we know he can be.
Chase enjoys playing with other dogs, especially those around his age and energy level, though he tends to prefer gentler play. Rowdy dogs can overwhelm him, so a canine companion who understands his softer style would be ideal. He’s also incredibly food-motivated, which makes training a fun and rewarding experience for both him and his people.
What is my personality like? Meet Chase - a bundle of joy with a heart full of love! This sweet boy is ready to be your loyal, loving sidekick, always ready to brighten your day with a wagging tail and a big, happy smile. He is a true sweetheart and adores being pet and receiving affection. Chase is doing phenomenal at things like potty training and learning simple commands, but he still needs socialization and more positive learning experiences! He’s an easy-going boy who simply just wants your undivided attention.
Chase is a smart, curious boy who benefits from regular enrichment and mental stimulation. Puzzle toys, treat-dispensing balls, and other interactive activities help keep his brain engaged and satisfied. He also enjoys short social outings—like walks around new neighborhoods, pet-friendly shops, or quiet parks—which allow him to take in new sights and smells while building confidence.
When Chase first arrived at the rescue, he was very underweight. It’s clear he went without meals at some point in his life, and as a result, he now eats with urgency. Because of this, Chase should be fed using a slow feeder to help pace his meals and prevent any issues from eating too quickly. With time and consistency, he’s learning that food is no longer scarce—and that his bowl will always be full when he needs it.
Whether it’s playtime, a cozy snuggle session, or simply following you around, Chase will be his happiest when he is by your side. Chase is full of love, loyalty, and playful spirit. He’s ready to find his forever family—one that will embrace his quirks, shower him with attention, and give him the stable, joyful life he deserves.
How do I act when I first meet new people? Chase loves everyone and everything!
Other tips and tidbits: Chase was estimated by 3 years old when surrendered to the NC shelter. We celebrate his birthday 1/27/23.
House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.

Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you.
