t some of our dogs, please see HERE Age: 2 Years (as of 2/5/25) Weight: 63 Pounds (as of 4/2/25) Location: RI This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Meet Giggles! This super sweet, fun-loving girl is patiently awaiting her forever home. Giggles is playful and affectionate. She’s eager to please and would make a great companion. She is a well-mannered young lady, donning elegant white "gloves" and a white "bib" to match her personality. In short, she’s best described as an all-around “great dog," and it's very clear why! She is very friendly with everyone she meets. She enjoys the company of most dogs with a proper introduction. Giggles has been friendly and outgoing when meeting children out and about, so while her current foster does not have chilren, we think she would do well in a home with children. She has been shown to have a strong prey drive and don't recommend her in a home with cats or other small animals. She is house trained, working on crate training, and walks good in the leash when there is not too many distractions. She is a great house guest and can be left alone free roaming without any destruction. She is a bit of a door dasher so taking extra precaution when open doors is important. This girl would prefer a fenced in yard where she can play and bask in the sun all day. Giggles is ready to bring love and laughter to her lucky fur-ever family! We strongly encourage basic obedience training for all our dogs, as it not only helps your dog blossom into a well-balanced canine citizen with good manners, but it also helps to form a lasting bond between your dog and the humans in your family. Are you ready to give Giggles a place to call home? Fill out an application today and let her know that you'd love for her to wiggle on into your family! An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see HERE for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website: Adoption Application - SOS Animal Rescue League in Rhode Island (sosarl) **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
