ts are adorable. She’s equal parts cuddle bug and whirlwind, a curious, happy-go-lucky girl who adores people, dogs, and just about everything else the world has to offer. Minnie has a true zest for life—whether she’s chasing squirrels, chewing a bone, squeaking a ball, or galloping after her foster sister. She’s constantly on the move, exploring with her nose to the ground and her tail in the air. And when she’s ready for a break, she’ll lay her head in your lap for love and pets, just long enough to recharge before zooming off again. She’s house trained, crate trained, and rides like a champ in the car. Her leash skills are still under construction, and she has a bit of a stubborn streak when it comes to commands—Minnie absolutely knows "sit," "down," "off," and more, but sometimes she decides she’s got better things to do. That said, she’s learning fast, especially with treats or praise on the line. Minnie’s fearless, friendly, and full of love. Thunder, lightning, new dogs, new people—nothing rattles her. She lives harmoniously with multiple other Danes and would thrive in a home with another dog her size or larger who can keep up with her rough-and-tumble play style. She's not a barker or a fence-fighter, even when the other dogs try to stir things up. Her ideal home has a securely fenced yard where she can zoom to her heart’s content. She needs multiple daily walks or play sessions to stay happy and out of trouble—yes, she's still working on breaking her shoe-chewing habit, though slippers are now safe on your feet. She loves fetch, car rides, and being wherever her people are, and she’s happiest when included in the daily fun. Older children, around 10 and up, would be great for Minnie, especially those who love to play and understand her size and goofy energy. At the end of the day, she’s a cuddle monster who would be more than happy to snooze in bed next to you, peaceful and content after a day of play. Minnie is the perfect companion for an active family looking for a fun, loyal, loving dog who’s always ready for adventure—and always ready to come back for a snuggle. ========================= To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! form.jotform/51994996709176 . 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
