See her pool experience here-she was certain her foster family had evil intentions-and she hated getting wet in the pool! .facebook/UnitedDobermanRescue/videos/1006685561633455
This brave girl is deaf, but don't let that fool you – she’s just as playful and sweet as any other dog. Kiara has already learned a few signs, like "come", "sit" and "shake," and now it’s our turn to learn from her! Despite the challenges she’s faced, Kiara is a trooper. She was sadly dumped at a shelter in the Four Corners of New Mexico, with her owner asking for her to be euthanized. Thankfully, High Desert Doberman Rescue stepped in, and now Kiara is safe and loved in her foster home.
Kiara is touch-sensitive, using gentle nudges with her nose to connect with both humans and other dogs, which we believe is her way of "hearing." She would thrive with a doggy companion who is tolerant and understanding, especially one who can help guide her in the world of sound. Kiara previously lived with a pitbull who may have been her "ears," so having another dog who is patient and accepting of her unique communication style would make her feel even more secure.
She’s housebroken, crate trained and settles in nicely after a little bark. Kiara is current on her vaccines, spayed, heartworm negative and on preventative, and microchipped. Kiara get so excited and happy when her foster mom and dad come home, even if just from the mailbox-her little nub and full butt wiggles in excitement, showing her love. She loves to go for walks and smell all the incredible smells out on her hikes. And is she ever a good eater, plus super treat motivated. Kiara’s looking for a loving family who will embrace her for the amazing, goofy, and resilient dog that she is. Kiara will need a fenced yard since she can not hear this will keep her safest. Kiara loves going to doggy daycare and is grouped with the older and tiny dogs-yes she even does well with little chihuahua's!!! She really is a perfect companion!! She might even do cats but we have no way to test her currently. If you think you could be the perfect match for Kiara, please apply today!
