and while she was initially a bit scared, she has quickly blossomed into an enthusiastic, playful pup who's excited to take on the world. With her adorable face, big brown eyes full of love, and an endless supply of energy, Bonnie has captured the hearts of everyone she meets. Bonnie's favorite activities include going for walks, playing with toys, and lounging on the couch for a well-deserved nap. She's also excellent with other dogs who enjoy her "Rough and Tumble" play style! Bonnie has a playful nature and absolutely loves greeting new people with tail wags and happy jumps. She could benefit from some leash manners and a little guidance to help her calm down when greeting people. Basic training will help her be the best pup she can be! Bonnie has done great with all the people she's met at FMAR and would be a fantastic fit for a family that has a younger playful dog. Because of her energetic and jumpy personality, Bonnie would do best in a home with older children who can match her enthusiasm. If you're looking for a loyal, active companion who's ready for adventure and affection, Bonnie is the one for you! She would love to join an active family that enjoys walks, outdoor adventures, and cuddling on the couch. Could Bonnie be the perfect fit for your family? Come meet her today and see for yourself! If you would like to meet Bonnie, please submit an application for her on our website .friendsofmichigan/adoptable-dogs. She is spayed, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $250, which covers part of the medical care she has received. **Please note that the breed listed for each of our dogs is a rough estimate unless DNA results are provided in their Bio. All strays have rough estimates of their age based on the condition of their teeth. Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
