ary 2024, this beautiful boy is loving, smart, and eager to please. He could weigh 95-105 as he continues into full adulthood. Bodie thinks he’s the size of a teacup poodle and always wants to crawl into your lap. He loves to snuggle into you and give you his paw so you will pet him. And he gives you the best greetings when you come home! He is silly and goofy! He plays with his toys by throwing them in the air while he’s rolling on his back. He happily bounces around the back yard with his tail held high as he waits to hear if there are other dogs in the neighborhood that might be barking. Sweet Bo-Bo is cautious until he gets to know you. When someone new comes into the house, he runs and seeks refuge in his crate. But he soon comes to trust those who are kind to him. Bodie is great with children. He loves all the kids he sees when going for walks at the park. He is the best boy! He likes other dogs, too. He would love to have a large, playful doggie companion in his forever home. If he is an only dog, he needs his people to take him for walks (which he loves) and spend lots of time with him (which he also loves). Still in his puppy stage, he likes toys. He can be mischievous and believe everything can be a toy! You’ll learn to put things away until (if!) he gets past this phase. He loves to play and gets excited occasionally and jumps. He might not do well with anyone in the house who could easily be knocked off-balance. He loves treats and takes them gently. Bodie is leash trained. He is crate trained, and self-crates when he knows you’re leaving the house. He quickly learned his house training even though he was an outside dog prior to rescue. He is working on confidence with riding in a car. He still needs a little booty boost to get into the vehicle. Bodie hopes for a home where people are sweet to him, love on him, and he has a nice yard to play. SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Adoption fees are $300 for dogs under 1 year old, $250 for dogs 1-7 years old, $200 for dogs over 7 years old. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Please go to our website .SpinRescue and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
