Foster Home Feedback ** No cats ** No apartments/ shared walls 5/16/2025 Foster Feedback: We have Conway back, and he is doing great. He is a super sweet dog; we call him the permanent puppy. Conway can act like a puppy and play, fall down, forget to jump when he gets to the bed, oooppps!! and sits sideways like a puppy. However, he listens, never has an accident in the house, he heels, sits, shakes, and short of a couple of pairs of cheater glasses, doesn't chew anything up. With that said, Conway loves to destroy the stuffed toys, but I'm pretty sure they deserved it!! He will play with ours, and even when Rusty has had enough and growls and snips at him, he will not get aggressive; instead, he sits sideways like a puppy and gives him the 'huh' look, as if to say, 'What's wrong?' Conway loves attention, will always greet you at the door, and give hugs and kisses. He is out anytime we leave, otherwise, he will follow you around to see what's up! Like I said, he is like a permanent puppy and will have you laughing at all times, will play catch until your arm falls off. Conway is not great at finding the ball if it isn't within his sight or where he thinks it is, but that is part of his charm, personality, and entertainment value. I'm positive, if you spend any time with him, ya can't help but laugh and love him, Conway is a GREAT one!! 4/21/25 Boarding Facility Feedback: Conway is a sweet, active boy who stayed with us at Fargo Boarding and we all absolutely adored him! He’s full of love and personality, with a beautiful pair of mismatched eyes that make him truly one of a kind. Conway loves long walks (even if he’s a little wild at first—he’s working on it!) and has the cutest, bouncy trot when he gets excited. He’s very food-motivated and listens well, especially if peanut butter KONGs are involved—his absolute favorite! Conway even joined in on our Easter Egg Hunt, but in true Conway fashion, he was more interested in snuggles than the treat-filled eggs. He’s a lover through and through, always looking to connect and soak up attention. Conway is looking for a home that will embrace his energy, continue his training, and give him all the love and peanut butter he can handle. Building Volunteer Feedback 4/17/25:Conway is an angel!!! He did really well today, rode in the car great (he just really wanted to get in the front to give kisses). We went on a long walk then laid outside in the grass for awhile for belly rubs. Conway sat on the couch once we got back and then found some toys. He listens very well but he does like to jump on people. Former Foster Feedback 3/26/25: I fostered Conway when he was first with the rescue. He is a very sweet dog that got along great with my pup Rusty and any other dogs that he met. He never was aggressive. He would sleep on the bed with us and never had any accidents in the house. We liked to give Conway free reign of the house, and he did very well. He never chewed on anything, would lay around, play with Rusty and look out the window. When in our back yard he would run around, chase the ball, and play with Rusty. Conway would not bark or really care about the dogs in the adjoining yard. He would love to sit with you on the couch or crawl up on your lap in the chair, just wanting attention and love! I would take him back in a heartbeat if I didn't have another foster. Anyone that wants a well-behaved low-key loving companion, Conway is definitely the one. 9/15/24 Building Volunteer Feedback: This afternoon I got to take Conway for a few hours for a kennel break to my yard. He was so good with my kids (8 & 12) and husband for first time meeting. He did not jump on any of them, like he has at the kennel. Conway played fetch with all of them, went to each of my kids to have them throw the ball, chased a little after some of the bigger (soccer-size) balls but seemed to like the smaller ones (tennis-size) balls better. The neighbor dogs came charging at the fence very aggressively (who are you?) barking but not a peep came out of Conway. All he did was go sniff them at the fence and they trotted along the fence a bit to continue to do the meet and greet. Eventually the other dogs calmed down. Each time they went towards the fence, they just sniffed each other, and no other barking occurred. I took Conway for a walk by the pond. When we saw other dogs on the walk, his ears perked up to acknowledge them but absolutely no barking came from him towards the other barking dogs. Conway is an exceptionally good walker, with a little pull at times but not too much. Conway appears to like to roam in the car - going to back seat, passenger seat, then standing in middle of console and rotating again. I was the only one in the car, so he had lots of space to check out and explore. Conway did not bark once in the 3.5+ hours that he was here. He did great in the yard, with no attempts to escape or jump the fence. We did not leave him alone outside so eyes were on him the whole time. 9/14/24 Building Volunteer Feedback: Conway loves people. Treats and toys are fun as well, but pair with people and he's in heaven. He is inquisitive but not destructive. Conway has bursts of energy, but I imagine he will relax into a nice house dog for someone who bursts with him. He loves snuggles and belly rubs and kisses on the top of his head. Conway hates being in his kennel at the building and he barks and jumps to show his dissatisfaction. To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: .4luvofdog

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
