ld, though she never got the memo about slowing down. One minute she’s bulldozing her way through a zoomie, the next she’s melting across your lap like she weighs ten pounds instead of 125.
Isla came to us from a Texas shelter, and she’s made it clear that she has zero interest in ever going back to that life. She wants comfort, connection, and consistency—and she’ll let you know if she’s not getting them. She barks when she’s excited, when she wants something, or just when she’s wondering what you’re doing without her. She’s not shy about asking for attention or reminding you that she is, in fact, the main character.
She’s house trained, a dream in the car, and tucks herself in every night like it’s part of her bedtime ritual (though she expects a treat for her efforts). She walks well on leash unless she decides she’d rather not—and then she doesn’t. That’s just Isla. She’s smart, stubborn, and wildly charming in a way that makes it hard to stay frustrated with her for long.
She’s also a professional-level snack thief. Counter surfing? She's got that covered. If it's edible and not locked up, consider it hers. She’s not destructive, just... opportunistic. She sees an opening, she takes it. And if she thinks she can get you to share your dinner, she will absolutely try.
Isla would do best as the only pet in the home. She’s not aggressive, but she has her boundaries, and she really just prefers people to other animals at this stage in life. She’d also be happiest in a home with adults or older kids who understand that her size and play style don’t always mix well with little ones. Give her a fenced yard, a cozy spot to nap, and a human (or two) who’s home more often than not, and she’s set.
Health-wise, she’s doing great for her age. Her arthritis is managed with daily medication, and she has a small tumor that’s being monitored but doesn’t currently need surgery.
Isla is the definition of a “senior with spunk.” She’s got the wisdom of her years and the personality of a dog half her age. She’s opinionated, hilarious, and full of love. What she needs now is someone who sees her for all that she is—quirks, bark, drool, and all—and says, “Yep, that’s my dog.”
