oung-must be done by Adopter/s per adoption agreement). He is a puppy that will require everything a baby puppy needs (frequent potty breaks, potty training, basic training, socialization, and lots of love). We do not know what breed he is. An Adopter can have a DNA test done if preferred but we do not do DNA tests. This little guy is a bit timid and shy but has overcome adversity and has made big strides to get to where he is now in his SC foster home! Ranger loves his crate. Not only is it his bed and house but it is his safe-zone. He is very quiet, enjoys doing puppy things like playing with toys, wrestling with other dog,s and doing zoomies around the house. He is highly food motivated (great for training), is learning more and more how to walk on a leash and he got the routine down very quickly in his foter home. Ranger hasn’t had an accident in over 5 days! He has been exposed to 5 other dogs of 5 different sizes and 5 different personalities along with 3 children of ages 12 to 7. He is shy of people at first, but he will continue to gain confidence and will make someone a very sweet and loyal companion! Stay tuned for more information as puppy Ranger is a new rescue! If you are interested in adopting puppy Ranger please fill out an Application at .Passion-4-Paws (please make sure you have the Vermont site not CT) - thanks! Please note Fosters have 1st option of Adoption. Check out his Facebook page (please "Like" us while you are there)! Disclosure: Breed labels are often incorrect: we rarely know the genetic lineage of the dogs we rescue. Many shelters and rescues specify breeds based on appearance; however, research has shown that less than 2% of a dog’s DNA determines appearance! Passion 4 Paws does not practice the use of labels pertaining to compatibility with others or dog breed. Labels such as “dog friendly” and “child friendly” should be used with caution as they often over-simplify the personalities and behavior of dogs.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
