ng! SNOW WHITE NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Come meet Snow white and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (06/29) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Falls Church, (6100 - A Arlington Blvd, Falls Church, VA 22044)! Name: Snow White Best Guess for Breed: Retriever/hound mix Best Guess for Age: 7 months as of July 2025 SEX: Female Approximate weight: 34.5 lbs as of 6/15/25--she still has some more growing to do! Gets Along With: Other dogs! On walks, she does have some prey drive and wants to chase cats. She has also been friendly to the kids she has met! We are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living at: DC area foster home. Snow White is Looking For: Her perfect fit and a fairy tale ending! This little princess is at the tail end of puppyhood and hasn't seen nearly enough of the world. She's eagerly awaiting her own family to take her for romps in the park and all the adventures they can dream up. Trips to parks, playdates with pup pals, and doggy school are on her to-do list! Oh, and LOTS of cuddles! What My Foster Says About Me: Snow White is super sweet and very docile. She loves napping on the couch and staring out the window, especially if she can do it while in your lap. She's very curious and loves to explore new objects and places very thoroughly. She walks well on a leash with minimal pulling. She's also extremely affectionate and loves to rub up against you every chance she gets! Sometimes she will take a little time to warm up to new people, but once she does she's full of love! She has some puppy energy but is well disciplined and is learning "no!". She's also doing very well in the crate. Snow White has enjoyed playing at the dog park with other dogs. She has also been around kids and is great with them and lets them pet her! TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
