FLINT NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Come meet Flint and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (06/22) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Silver Spring, MD (12020 Cherry Hill Road, Silver Spring, MD 20904)! Name: Flint Best Guess for Breed: Rottweiler mix Best Guess for Age: 2.5 years as of May 2025 SEX: Male Approximate Weight: 90 lbs Gets Along With: Dogs, cats, and older kids! Currently Living at: DC area foster home Flint is Looking For: The best home ever! Through no fault of his own, Flint is looking for a new home because his current family will be moving overseas and are unable to take him with them. He has spent the last two years living with kids and cat who love him dearly, and want to see him live the life of luxury. Flint has done a lot of training and is a very smart boy but wants to continue with his training and remain an "A+" student. Flint likes to keep his circle small and can be picky about his dog friends (not everyone is a social butterfly, right?) The staff at the daycare and boarding he has been to said, "He is a very sweet boy that likes to expend a ton of energy when he plays. While he can be a little much for more introverted dogs, when he is with an equally spirited animal, he shines! He absolutely adores all human interaction." This handsome boy is seeking his own humans for snuggles and world exploration! He has all that awesome young-dog energy coupled with a couch potato in training. He would make a wonderful addition to an active home where he gets to burn off his energy going for hikes and runs, then cuddle of the couch for the newest Netflix binge. Most of all, though, he wants to know he's safe and loved and under his own roof. In exchange, he promises adoring gazes and steady, loyal companionship for all his days. What do you say? Is this lovable big lug the companion you've been seeking? What My Foster Says About Me: Come back soon for updates! Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog . 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
