Keagan - a one-year-old Golden Retriever Shepherd mystery mix with a heart full of love and a body full of wiggles! At 45 pounds, Keagan is the perfect medium-sized bundle of energy, affection, and fun. His joyful personality shines through in everything he does, especially when he's showing off his adorable “wiggle butt” - a constant happy dance that’s impossible not to smile at. Whether he's doing zoomies around the yard or soaking up all the snuggles after playtime, Keagan is always either making you laugh or warming your heart. Keagan loves life and everyone in it. He's a social butterfly with both dogs and cats and is eager to make new friends, even if he might bark once or twice out of excitement before quickly turning on the charm. He thrives in active environments and would love a home where he has room to run, play, and enjoy the companionship of other pets or active humans. He especially loves toys, chew treats that keep him busy, and any opportunity to engage with his people. While he's still working on a few manners (like learning not to jump up for pets - he just wants to be that close to you!), he's making great progress and is very eager to please. He already knows “sit” and is doing well with crate training. Keagan usually keeps his crate clean and settles in quickly when given a toy or treat to enjoy. He’s also making great strides with housetraining and does well when kept on a regular schedule. Keagan is wonderful on leash and rides calmly in the car when crated. His foster family describes him as one of the sweetest dogs they’ve ever met and say he’s been an absolute joy to foster. With his loving nature, playful spirit, and irresistible charm, Keagan would thrive in a home that can keep up with his energy during the day and provide him with lots of cuddles when it’s time to relax. If you’re looking for a happy, affectionate, and entertaining companion who will fill your days with joy and your couch with snuggles, Keagan is ready to wiggle his way into your heart! Interested in adopting? Take the first step and complete an adoption application on our website: aarf-tn/adopt/adoption-apps/ If you have questions that are not covered in the profile, visit the Pet Inquiry Form: aarf-tn/contact/pet-inquiry-form/. THIS PET IS FOSTERED IN TENNESSEE! We do list and adopt our pets nationwide. Typical transport cost to the Northeast is $180. Due to interstate adoption regulations, we are not able to adopt to RI and MA state residents. A.A.R.F. (All About Rescue and Fixin' Inc.) aarf-tn/ is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) no kill animal rescue organization located in the Upper Cumberland area of Tennessee. A.A.R.F. is comprised of unpaid volunteers and survives only on public donations. Thank you for thinking adoption first! Prior to adoption, all canines and felines are spayed or neutered, have received their age appropriate vaccinations, have been de-wormed for common parasites, and have received treatment for prevention of fleas and ticks. All canines over the age of 6 months have been tested for heartworm. All canines are put on heartworm prevention as soon as possible - this means dogs as soon as they are tested negative. Puppies are put on prevention immediately. All felines, regardless of age, have been tested for Feline Leukemia/FIV. Each animal receives a health check by a licensed veterinarian prior to adoption. Anything else found will be treated by our organization prior to adoption.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
