ted, neutered, microchipped, and ready to take over your couch, your heart, and quite possibly your entire kingdom. This regal gentleman is all about loyalty and making sure you know he’s always around. He’s a velcro dog who lives to follow you around, and if you dare sit down, prepare for his royal presence to be felt right next to you. ️ His Royal Highness's Preferences: Crate Enthusiast & House-Trained: Loki is a king who knows when to retreat to his royal chamber (aka his crate) to rest. He’s 100% house-trained, meaning he doesn’t need a throne to do his business—just a backyard and your full attention when he makes a royal deposit. Bark Backer Extraordinaire: If any dog dares to bark at him, Loki will immediately respond with a royal “Excuse me woof?!” He doesn’t tolerate sass from the commoners and is always ready to stand his ground in a full-blown barking contest. Don’t start no stuff, won’t be no stuff—unless it’s Loki’s stuff. WOOF!!! ️ Velcro Royalty: Loki is 100% a velcro dog. He will follow you around all day because, as he sees it, why should the King of the castle ever be alone? If you go to the bathroom? He’ll be there, sitting at your feet. In the kitchen? Loki’s watching, making sure you’re not dropping food. (or his snacks). Brainiac & Trickster: Loki is smart, maybe smarter then most humans, and loves challenges. Puzzle toys? He’ll solve them faster than you can say “royal decree.” He’s also into training sessions, which is a fun way for him to earn his crown (and maybe a treat or two). Don’t expect him to just sit there; this dog is ready to work for his treats. Couch Cuddler Supreme: When he’s not barking at other dogs or plotting his next royal conquest, Loki’s favorite pastime is lounging on the couch, in case you wanted to know what “kingdom life” really looks like. Game of Thrones marathon? He’s in. Romance flicks, yep. He’s already mentally prepared to sit on the Iron Throne, but for now, your couch will do. ️ Ideal Home: Loki is a solo monarch. No other dogs or cats are allowed in his kingdom. Loki rules with an iron paw, and there’s no room for anyone else to challenge his supremacy. The world is all about Loki, according to Loki's rules. ❌ While Loki has lived with a 12-year-old human, he believes anyone under the age of 12 is simply too young to understand his royal ways. Young children are like fingernails on a chalk board, plus they smell funny. Loki needs a home where he’s treated like the adult he is. ❌ Loki needs a family who’s up for lots of high energy fun and mental challenges. If you have the energy to keep up with him and can provide a healthy mix of fun times (fetch, running, walking, trick-training) and down time (couch cuddles), then you’ll both live happily ever after. ‍♂️ Why Adopt Loki? Loki isn’t just a pretty face with a bark that could rival thunder—he’s a loyal, hilarious, and highly entertaining companion. He’ll protect your home, keep you laughing, and never let you sit alone on the couch again. A home isn’t truly a home without a Loki in it. If you’re ready for a dog who thinks he’s royalty and demands your attention all day long, Loki is your guy. Interested in adopting Loki? The kingdom is waiting for you... but no pressure. .uniteddobermanrescue United Doberman Rescue Adoption Process Application Submission: Complete the adoption application thoroughly. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
