nd at toolkit.rescuegroups/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC . We will be looking for YOUR application! FOSTER COMMENTS: Jax! Jax a 5 month old cutie with beautiful eyes. He is a goofy, lovable pup who’s ready to bring endless joy and laughter to his forever family. This handsome guy is fully housebroken and will even let you know when it’s time to go outside. He’s not crate trained, but he does very well free-roaming as long as the room is safe and cords are tucked away. Jax is a social butterfly—he’s incredibly friendly with new people and absolutely loves other dogs, big or small. The dog park is his happy place, where he enjoys chasing, wrestling, and making new friends. He’s even met a dog savvy cat and was respectful of their space. Jax hasn’t been around children yet, but his sweet and playful personality suggests he’d warm up quickly. This boy has a moderate energy level—sometimes he’s a zoomy, playful goofball, and other times he’s a snuggly nap buddy who wants nothing more than to curl up in your lap or pile onto another dog for a cuddle. He’s also quite the character: Jax “speaks his mind,” stomps around the house like a little diva, wags his tail so hard it smacks against his ribs, and has one hilarious fear—giant yoga balls. Because he can be a bit vocal, Jax wouldn’t be the best fit for an apartment, but he’ll thrive in a home where he gets regular walks, playtime, and lots of love. He could do well as an only dog if given enough exercise and attention, though he’d also be thrilled to have a canine companion. If you’re looking for a dog who will keep you laughing, fill your home with love, and snuggle up at the end of the day, Jax might just be your perfect match. EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Jax"s Mother was killed by another dog when she gave birth. A rescue stepped up and saved him and his siblings by bottle feeding them for weeks. After they were bottle feed, Best Friend Pet Adoption admitted two of the puppies, Jett and Jax. Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed. Applicants must live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized. Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions. We therefore require applicants to live within an hours drive of Cary NC. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
